Animal Pound
Â

Â
The City has an Animal Control Officer who is available to pick up animals and also operates an animal pound at 2002 E. Division Street behind the City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant. The pound is accessible off of Division Street.
Â
The pound is open from 10:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday (closed for lunch 12:00 – 1:00) and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Both, dogs and cats are available for adoption for $45.00 for dogs and $10.00 for cats.
.
Pet owners who surrender animals to the pound must pay a $25.00 surrender fee. Animals that are brought in that were stray do not require a fee.
Â
Pet owners must pay a $10.00 per day board fee and $10.00 pick up fee to claim an animal that was delivered to the shelter by the animal control officer.
Â
The pound will investigate all options relative to keeping or euthanizing of animals and works jointly with the local humane society in order to adopt out all animals possible. Animals brought to the pound that are eligible for adoption are listed at www.petfinder.com under Bolivar City Pound.  Many of these animals are adopted by residents of other states as well as locally.
