Bolivar Fire Department

Welcome to the Bolivar Fire Department

Welcome to the Bolivar City Fire Department’s web page. Bolivar City Fire is a progressive department serving over 10,000 citizens in central Polk County, Missouri. We are proud of our department and our history, which stretches back nearly 120 years. We try very hard to hold on to those honored traditions of the past while still embracing cutting edge technologies and practices to provide the very best service to our community. Our firefighters are dedicated, motivated, and willing to go the extra mile to provide whatever service the citizens need.

I hope you enjoy visiting our web page and learning a little more about our department. If you are traveling through southwest Missouri and have the chance to come to Bolivar, please stop in for a visit. You’ll quickly learn why Bolivar is such a great place to live, work and enjoy!

The Bolivar City Fire Department is a municipal combination department of four paid employees and twenty paid per call firefighters. We operate out of two stations; both with drive through bays.

Fire Stations

Station 1

Station 1 is our main station and is located at 312 S. Springfield Avenue. Station 1 houses two engines, one 100’ platform and one brush truck/medical response unit. All three pumping units have 1500 gpm pumps. We have both a small combination unit and a full heavy duty extrication set for rescue calls, as well as air bags. Both engines are extended cab units with intercom systems, equipped with Thermal Imaging Cameras, Knox Box systems and all ISO mandated equipment. Both have foam capability and have onboard generators.

Station 2

Located on South Killingsworth Avenue, Station 2 houses one engine, one brush truck, two older parade vehicles, one enclosed 12’ trailer and a 32’ command trailer to be used in large-scale, long-duration incidents.

The City Fire Department provides complete firefighting capabilities, vehicle extrication and rescue capabilities, medical response with 9 NREMT’s and 10 emergency medical responders, and haz-mat response to the Operations level.  We have 19 of our 24 firefighters trained to that level.
