Captain Van Tassell has been with the department since 1993 when he began as a dispatcher. He has progressed through the ranks during these years and has been serving as Captain for the past two years.
As second in command, he reports directly to the Chief and is the direct supervisor over the patrol and support services/investigative lieutenants. His responsibilities include over-seeing internal affairs investigations, grant management, and training. He also serves as the commander of the Special Response Team and Range Master.
