City of Bolivar staff pose for a photo with the new time capsule monument at Neuhart Park.

The City of Bolivar buried and dedicated the community's 2026 Time Capsule in Neuhart Park in honor of America's 250th anniversary.

The capsule — which is set to be opened in July 2076 during America's 300th Anniversary — holds 215 items from 39 organizations in Bolivar and Polk County.

"Thanks to everyone who contributed to the project and to those who joined us for the dedication ceremony last week," said City Administrator Thomas Relford. "It was a wonderful time celebrating the past, present, and future of our town and our nation."

The City extends a special thank you to Butler Funeral Home for making the project possible with a generous donation of the monument and vault for the time capsule contents.

Also, thanks to Dr. Coyle Neal for speaking, the Bolivar High School Air Force JROTC for presenting the colors, and Fable Painter for singing the national anthem during the ceremony.
