The Bolivar Police Department operates a municipal animal pound at 2002 E. Division Street, behind the Liberty Utilities wastewater treatment plant and accessible off of Division Street.
We have animal control officers available to pick up animals within Bolivar city limits.
Details about the services we provide
- Pet owners who surrender animals to the pound must pay a $25 surrender fee. Animals brought in that were stray do not require a surrender fee.
- Pet owners must pay a $10 per day board fee and a $10 pick up fee to claim an animal delivered to the shelter by an animal control officer.
- The adoption fee for dogs is $40. This includes DAPPv, Bordetella and rabies shots.
- The adoption fee for cats is $20. This includes rabies and HCPCH shots.

- Local residents, as well as people from other states, adopt many of these animals!
The pound investigates all options relative to keeping or euthanizing animals and works jointly with local and out-of-state rescues to adopt out all animals possible.
