The Board of Adjustment consists of five members, who are citizens of the City of Bolivar, appointed by Bolivar's mayor and approved by a majority vote of the Board of Aldermen. Each member of the Board of Adjustment serves a term of five years.
The Board of Adjustment's role is outlined in Bolivar's Municipal Code and the State of Missouri Revised Statutes.
- Hears and decides appeals of error in any order, requirement, decision or determination made by the Zoning Administrator.
- Authorizes variances from the specific terms of the land use regulations.
- Grants exceptions to the provisions of the land use regulations as permitted by special use.
